Sensors for electrochemical microbalances

The Institute offers quartz sensors for electrochemical quartz crystal microbalances (EQCM). They measure resonance frequency and resonance resistance of a quartz crystal with a deposited hot electrode, therefore, they enable the detection of very low electrode mass changes. EQCM are widely used for real-time monitoring of surface interactions, such as adsorption and desorption processes, characterisation of molecular interactions, conformational changes of proteins, monitoring of electro polymerisation thickness or electrodeposition of metals.
